Something I learned on the importance of toy.

On my opinion, the toys bring many vitally important reasons why toys are so necessary to the development and well-being of children. This statement was endorsed by the members of the International Council of Toy Industries at their Annual Meeting in June 2006. Providing they comply with all the conditions necessary to ensure children’s safety, toys are an integral part of their development the new awareness of self opens some fascinating new dimensions of the toddler mind. The discovery of "me" versus "not-me" leads to such tantalizing concepts as "mine" versus "not-mine" as well as the individuality of other people. So we start dealing with such issues as possession and sharing. We also get to a new level of awareness about whom and what other people are, especially other children. Toys and other objects are important extensions of a young child. They can be played with and learned from, and they can be used to achieve other goals — a pail and shovel are a big help in building a sand castle. But possession or ownership has more than practical applications. It becomes another means by which a child exerts independence and autonomy. This carries over into play with other children. For children who are not in a child care setting on a regular basis, territorial disputes are more the rule than the exception in playgroups of kids this age. That is why it usually works better to have a mix of ages rather than a group of age clones.

WRITING ON SOMETHING ABOUT ADVERTISEMENT

JOURNAL WRITING

Advertisements at games or movies.

The expansion of the video and computer game industry has made advertisers aware of the potential of video and computer games as an advertising vehicle (Kelly 2003). The placement of brands in games is called "in-game advertising." It is reported that one game company alone Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) recorded $9 billion in annual sales, which is almost the equivalent of yearly box-office revenues for the movie industry in the United States (Young 2004). In addition to the sales of the games, the increasing numbers of game users make video and computer games an attractive format for brand placements. According to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA 2005), computer and video game sales grew to $7.3 billion in 2004, with over 248 million computer and video games sold in the United States. Indeed, 50% of Americans play video games, and video game players are found among people of all ages, with 35% of video game players under the age of 18, 43% between the ages of 18 and 50, and 19% over 50 years old. There were 108 million video game players in 2004. This number is projected to grow to over 126 million players by 2008 (e-Marketer 2004). In 2000, the average person played 70 hours of video games, and this was projected to grow to 115 hours by 2005 (Census Bureau 2002). Today, more and more brand names are appearing in games, although the placement of brand names in games can be traced back to the late 1980s (Reuters 2002). For the video and computer game industry, the placements of brands in games can mean additional revenue and enhanced realism of the games. In 2003, $79 million was spent on in-game advertising, and it is estimated that by 2008 this will increase to over $250 million (e-Marketer 2004). Advertisements were often found to contribute to the perceived realism of the games, particularly in sports games (Nelson 2002; Nelson, Keum, and Yaros 2004).

Advertisements in the movies (product placement)

Product placement presents consumer products, brand names and locations to film and television production teams for inclusion in their projects. The goal is the one of raising brand awareness while selling the idea to movie production houses as a "clever" way to reduce their costs while providing greater "authenticity" to the environments and characters shown."Product placement appears in plays, film, television series, music videos, video games and books, and is a relatively new idea (first appearing in the 1980's). Product placement occurs with the inclusion of a brand's logo, or a favorable mention or appearance of a product. This is done without disclosure, and under the premise that it is a natural part of the work. Most major movie releases today contain product placements." may seem a bit confusing, but really, it's quite simple. The majority of us are getting tired of ads. Today's consumer is inundated with advertising everywhere: television, radio,
billboards, magazines, buses, newspapers, and the internet These are just the usual suspects. More and more ad-space is popping up every day. From people walking down the street wearing signs, to flyers on our cars and in our mailboxes, to ads on the ATM screen as we wait for it to dispense our cash, we see ads all day, every day. Even television networks that depend on advertising dollars to stay in business know that it can be useful to ditch the interruptions and present a show without ads from time to time.

Colgate History

History of Colgate

Colgate & Company had been a pioneer in establishing international operations, creating a Canadian subsidiary in 1913 and one in France in 1920. In the early 1920, the firm expanded into Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Mexico. Colgate firm next created subsidiaries in the Philippines, Brazil, Argentina, and South Africa in the late 1920. In 1937 the company moved into India and by the end of the 1940 had operations in most of South America. In the 1940 and 1950 the company also built upon its strategy of growth by acquisition, buying up a number of smaller consumer product companies. Organic growth remained on the agenda as well, and in 1947 the company introduced two best-known products, Fab detergent and Ajax cleanser. These acquisitions and new products, however, did little to close the gap between Colgate and its arch-rival, the Procter & Gamble Company, a firm that had been formed in the 1830 and had by now assumed a commanding lead over Colgate in selling detergent products in the United States. Meanwhile, the firm adopted its present name in 1953 and moved its offices for domestic and international operations to New York City in 1956.

Academic Writing

Chapter 3

My idea of the perfect career is in administration and management. I am going to become a Chief Executive Officer or a vice president in an established corporate sector for three reasons. First, I am fascinated by working in a big office with many people or in a small office with only a few people. Second, I am able to impose with critical and analytical thinking because I had an experience when I join debate club. Third, when I working in this field, the environment will enhance my intrapersonal skills such as leadership, self-improvement, and self-confident. One possible problem that may I have when I going into this career is I always busy until do not have proper time to spend time with family and friends. However, I am willingly to face it as challenge in my life in order to achieve my goal and make my future dream come true.
My experience with flow
Most of us have experience with flow. Flow can define as well as times when an activity goes very smoothly and brings great happiness. Furthermore, flow does not last long. My experience with flow is when I was at primary and secondary school. I am the one who always join public speaking competition when I studied in standard five. I participated in elocution contest but, I am not the winner because I disable to memorize the whole text prepared by my teacher at the moment. I also felt anxious and nervous in front of the audience. My parents always are a booster to increase my self- confident at the high rate. I am really thankful because they were always supported in everything I did. Before I started the performance, I would practice in front of mirror to ensure I will give the best during my performance. In addition, I also took part in poem competition during independent day grand festival at my school. I tried as well as I can and luckily, I got the third place. My teacher said, ‘it is a good trial for you and you have to make the judges passionate with your performance’. The word always bare in my mind until now because it seemed has a power to generate my emotion and spirit together in order to make my dream become reality. However, I felt very satisfied and glad because I able to perform well beyond my expectation. After that, I join debate club when I studied in standard six. Although I have to sit for my UPSR examination, I am able to manage time properly without forgetting my responsibility as a student. Ultimately, I got ‘the best speaker when debate competition. The opponents are my friend. I put all my attentions while the competition because I do not want to let the opportunity and chance goes away. The great happiness appeared in the deep of my heart at the moment. My parent also excited when knows I am the best speaker because it was my first time to experience it and it was complicated to describe through words. Other experience of mine with flow is when I received SPM result. It seemed only a beautiful dream because my result better than I expected. It was an unpredictable moment that I ever had! My mom said,’ you are deserved to got that because you put all your effort in order to achieve excellent result.

Where I am in life now

I recently celebrated my birthday on 23 of July ago. Now, I am 20 years old. In my opinion, a lot of idea and transformation pointed out at this age. That situation also happened to me and I will tell as well as I can in a chronology order. When I studied at primary school, I always imagine that when I grow up, I want to be a doctor. Why I am just dream to be a doctor? The answer is I really want to help the people who need a treatment and remedy in order to cure their disease. I will give my expertise to ensure all my patients receive a high quality service because they have to pay all the treatment that they get. My entire obsession of future is only about that. However, all of it totally changes after I got a PMR result. My result did not qualify to enter science stream class. My tears drop off when I received examination slip at school. My entire ambitious career had goes away in second. It was an unforgettable moment that I really hard to forget until now. My parent try as well as they can to persuade me and they motivated me with some advises. My mom said, ‘what happened now is not your fault my dear. Maybe your effort not enough in order to attain excellent result, you have to grab all the opportunities that come to you after this’. I further my study in accounting class. When I entered a class during the first day, I felt so sad and it seemed my whole life will be gloomy.
I know that it is a situation that I have to face bravely either the challenges come in physically or mentally. I strive hard to make myself able to handle it. I am really thankful to all my friends because they were help me a lot in studying and finally I succeed to interact and communicate with all the teachers who taught me without doubtful. All of them always supported and encouraged me in my studying. I also feel lucky because I am the one who selected to join debate club. I delegate for my school as a first debater until state competition level. Moreover, I also involved myself in sport activity such as netball. Through this activity, I will enhance my intrapersonal skill like leadership and management of time. I really enjoyed joining this activity with moral support given by parent, friends, and teachers. I want to challenge myself to achieve an excellent result in SPM examination even though I am the hectic person whether to focus on studying or participated in co-curriculum activities. In order to attain excellent result, I need to sacrifice wisely. So, I decided to enter an extra class at night. I will ask and discuss with my teacher about the lessons that I not really understand and we did many passed question. Finally, I passed SPM examination with flying colors. It was an
Unpredictable moment! Now, I further my study at Islamic Science University of Malaysia under Economy and Muamalat Faculty major in corporate administration and relation. I will give all my effort to attain an excellent result and the priority is I want to be the one of dean list. When I wake up early every morning, I will imagine automatically that if my entire future dream becomes reality because it can integrate my emotion and spirit to make myself concentrate and focus on studying and facing all challenges optimist. Hopefully my entire future dream will come true soon. “Dreams do come true, if we only wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it”. –James Matthew Barrie.
